1. St George's Christmas Bazaar 2007
(Events/Reports)

Author : Andy Brown

By the time you read this, I suspect St George's Bazaar will be a distant memory, merging into many other events.  So, a reminder.  It all started on the Friday night, when a small team of people cleared all of the chairs, set up the tables, shifted boxes, stuck tickets on bottles, put up decorations and generally prepared for the next day.    Some of us then went home and began cooking.

3. School’s in for summer.....
(Blog/Letters)

Author : John Page

Hang on, that can't be right, can it?  It's certainly not what Alice Cooper sang back in '72, and anyway, it doesn't make sense; we've just started the summer holidays.  Surely you meant ‘school's out for summer'?

5. St Nicholas, Abbotsbury, Dorset
(Articles/Holidays)

Author : Roy Sallis

St Nicholas, Abbotsbury, Dorset was built in the late 14th, early 15th century.  The oldest parts of the building are the tower and the north wall.  The flat ceiling of the nave dates from the early 19th century when the west gallery and a north gallery were built.  The north gallery was removed in 1885 but the entrance is still visible outside on the north wall.  The tower contains six bells dating from 1636 to 1773.  In the porch can be seen an effigy of an early abbot.

6. Seven Year On
(Blog/Letters)

Author : John Page

As I write this, it is seven years to the day since the Reverend Dean Henley came to the parish as Team Vicar with special responsibility for St George’s and Badshot Lea. By the time you read these words, it will be his last day here; indeed, he may well have already departed for pastures new.

The church of St Andrew at Tichborne is set on a small hill overlooking the valley in which the village lies.  A church has been here for at least 900 years.  The chancel dates from the middle of the 11th century.  Also from this period can be seen stone pilaster strips and small double-splayed windows set in the chancel wall.
