A full and enthusiastic congregation gathered at St George’s on 30th October to express thanks and show appreciation to Dean Henley at the conclusion of his seven years’ ministry in the parish. At the Eucharist that morning a special choir from all parts of the parish sang Mozart’s Ave Verum; the Rector presided and Dean preached his farewell sermon. After the service everyone adjourned to the adjacent church room where refreshments were served, speeches made, and a special cake was cut by Dean, as pictured here.
Appropriate gifts and cards were presented to Dean, who expresses his gratitude as follows:
I would like to thank everyone who made my last service at St. George's such a wonderful send off. I was very touched by your kind words and the very generous gifts as farewell presents. The handsome cheque will in due course be converted into a new cooker for the Rectory at Haynes. As I said in my sermon, it has been my privilege to have been the Team Vicar here for the past seven years or so, and I will always be grateful for your support, prayers and best wishes as I move to this next stage in my ministry. With my love and prayers, Dean Henley
