St
George's Church Room was built in 1999 as part of a redevelopment which also
saw the demolition of the Old Parsonage and the building of a new Vicarage adjacent to the Church.
At the moment St George's district (Badshot Lea) is in interregnum - i.e. the post of Vicar (incumbent ) there is vacant. It is normal within the Church of England for there to be gap between incumbents. The post has been advertised, but it probably won't be filled until at least summer 2007.
The Foundation Stone, seen inside the Church on the left of the west end, was laid by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, Viscount Middleton, on 23rd August, 1902. The Church was finished and consecrated on 24th October, 1903 by the Bishop of Winchester, as Guildford was then part of the vast Diocese of Winchester.
